JobSummary: Union Square & Co., a subsidiary of Barnes & Noble, Inc. is seeking an Associate Production Manager! This role supports the production managers on wide-ranging publishing activities including estimating, creating purchase orders, and acting as a liaison between printers and the UNSQ production team. The Associate Production Manager will work in a high-volume production department, focusing on estimating and developing manufacturing specifications. This role interacts with various departments within Union Square & Co. as well as external vendors.

An employee in this position can expect an annual starting rate between $65,000 and $75,000 depending on experience, seniority, geographic locations, and other factors permitted by law.

WhatYouDo:
  • Write detailed production specifications to request estimates from domestic / overseas printers and assist with preparing estimates for P&L approval.
  • Liaise between external vendors and various in-house departments including Editorial, Design, Managing Editorial, and Inventory to seek cost approvals, track specification changes, and gather feedback from routing materials.
  • Create purchase orders and communicate with printers to confirm various PO details.
  • Work closely with Inventory and Managing Editorial to track deliverables and maintain schedules.
  • Assist with creating and updating various reports on key performance metrics.
  • Handles other special projects as assigned.
Knowledge&Experience:
  • 4 year college degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum 3 years prior Production experience within book publishing.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Fundamental understanding of book publishing and production / printing specifications.
  • Detail-oriented individual with strong organizational skills to prioritize effectively and handle a comprehensive workload.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience with Title Management & Vista a plus.
  • Able to work in NYC office at least 3 days / week strongly preferred.
